Daycare in Gurgaon: a parent's complete guide for 2026

Daycare in Gurgaon explained for parents: how many centres there are, what fees look like by area, chains vs independents, commute planning and what to check.

Gurgaon has hundreds of daycares and preschools, so the problem is rarely finding one. It's narrowing a long list down to two or three good options near your home or office, at a fee you can sustain. Start with location and hours, then visit, then compare costs in full.

This guide covers how the market looks, what parents pay in different areas, the kinds of centres you'll meet and how to check them.

How many daycares are there in Gurgaon?

It depends on who is counting. Different directories list different numbers:

  • Kiddenz lists 567 verified preschools and daycares in Gurgaon.
  • ProEves lists about 429 daycares in Gurgaon.
  • We estimate there are about 850 private preschools and daycares across the city, including smaller centres that don't appear on directories.

The numbers differ because each site counts differently, so treat any single figure as a rough guide.

For context, Delhi-NCR is the largest city market for preschool and childcare in India, according to IMARC. That means lots of choice, and a wide spread in quality and price.

What does daycare cost in Gurgaon?

Fees vary more than most parents expect. On Kiddenz's Gurgaon listings, the median annual fee is about ₹55,400, with a range from roughly ₹16,000 to ₹2 lakh a year.

Location makes a big difference. Here's what Kiddenz's sector pages show:

AreaCentres listed on KiddenzMedian annual fee
Sector 51about 30about ₹1.1 lakh
Sector 50about 29not listed here
Sector 46about 28not listed here
Sector 45about 27not listed here
Sector 30not listed hereabout ₹72,800
Sector 92not listed hereabout ₹32,400

So the median in Sector 51 is more than three times that of Sector 92, in the same city.

These are preschool and daycare fees together, and listings change. Treat them as a guide to the range, not a quote. For a full breakdown, read our guide to preschool and daycare fees in Gurgaon.

Admission and one-time fees

The yearly fee is only part of the cost. Many centres charge an admission fee, a registration fee or a security deposit on top.

At the premium end, the Kiddenz page for Klay shows annual fees of about ₹1.49 to 1.95 lakh. Admission is a one-time fee of about ₹28,000. At the other end, a franchise preschool in Sector 41 listed on SchoolsUniverse charges about ₹35,000 a year, with about ₹5,000 for admission.

Always ask for the full first-year cost in writing. Our daycare fees explainer lists every component to ask about.

Gurgaon's main areas for daycare

Gurgaon is spread out, and traffic shapes daily life. Here's a quick overview, with a dedicated guide for each area.

Golf Course Road and DLF Phases 1 to 5

Older, established neighbourhoods close to Cyber City and the main office hubs. Expect a mix of long-running independents and well-known chains. Read our guide to daycare on Golf Course Road and DLF.

Golf Course Extension and Sohna Road

Newer high-rise societies, many with daycares inside or next to the complex. Read our guide to daycare on Golf Course Extension and Sohna Road.

Sectors 45 to 51 and South City

One of the densest clusters in the city, with close to 30 centres per sector on Kiddenz. Read our guide to daycare in Sectors 45 to 51.

Dwarka Expressway and New Gurgaon

Fast-growing areas where many families have moved recently. Many centres are new, and the Sector 92 median fee on Kiddenz is well below the city's. Read our guide to daycare on Dwarka Expressway and New Gurgaon.

Types of centres you'll find

Most centres in Gurgaon fall into a few types. Each can be excellent or poor. The label tells you little on its own.

TypeWhat it usually meansWhat to check
National or regional chainSet curriculum, branded materials, standard policiesWhether this branch follows the policies; how long staff have been here
FranchiseLocal owner running a brand's programmeWho owns it, how involved they are, how the brand checks quality
Independent centreOwner-run, often in a house or ground floorTheir own safety and pickup policies, in writing
Society or in-complex daycareInside or next to a residential societyHours, backup staff, what happens in holidays
Workplace crecheRun by or for an employerEligibility, waitlist, age range, hours

Many centres are also combined: a preschool in the morning, daycare in the afternoon. If you're unsure which you need, read preschool vs daycare vs playschool.

Plan around your commute

In Gurgaon, the commute can make or break a good daycare. A great centre an hour away will wear you down within weeks.

Before you visit anywhere, answer these questions:

  • Who does drop-off and pickup on most days? Choose near that person's route.
  • What happens on a work-from-home day? A centre near home is easier then.
  • What if your child falls ill at 11 am? Someone needs to reach the centre fast.
  • What are the centre's hours? Check the latest pickup time and the late fee.
  • Does the centre offer transport? Ask who drives, whether there's a female attendant on board, and how many children ride.

Try the route at the real time of day before you commit. Our guide to daycare near home or near office goes through the trade-offs in detail.

What to check on a visit

The basics are the same anywhere. In Gurgaon, a few points deserve extra attention.

Safety and access

  • Is there one controlled entrance, with someone at it?
  • How do they check who collects your child? Ask to see the authorisation form.
  • If the centre is in a residential building, how are stairs, balconies and terraces secured?
  • Are fire extinguishers visible and in date?

Our daycare safety checklist has the full list.

Staff and ratio

  • How many adults are in your child's room right now? Count them.
  • How long have the lead teachers been there?
  • Who covers when a teacher is on leave?

See our guide to teacher-to-child ratios for what to look for by age.

Heat, air and space

Summers are long and hot, and winter air can be poor.

  • Where do children play in May and June? Is there a shaded or indoor space?
  • How is the indoor play area ventilated and cooled?
  • What happens to outdoor play on high-pollution days?

A good answer is specific: "In summer, outdoor time moves to before 9 am. When the air is bad, we play in the activity room."

Food and routine

  • Is food cooked on site, brought in, or sent from home?
  • How are allergies handled? Is there a written list in the kitchen?

Chains vs independents: which is better?

Neither, on its own. A chain gives you predictable policies. An independent may give you a closer relationship with the owner.

What matters is the room your child will be in, the adults in it, and how the centre runs day to day. Judge the branch, not the brand. Use the same questions on every visit and a simple scorecard to compare fairly.

A simple plan for Gurgaon parents

  1. Two to three months ahead: decide on location, hours and budget. Shortlist five or six centres.
  2. Six to eight weeks ahead: visit at least three. Go at a busy time, not only on a calm tour.
  3. Four weeks ahead: confirm fees and refund terms in writing. Book a trial day if you can.
  4. Two weeks ahead: start settling in with short days. See our guide to settling into daycare.

If you want a place for the start of the academic year, ask each centre early how quickly its places fill.

For the full checklist that underpins all of this, read how to choose a daycare.

Frequently asked questions

How much is daycare in Gurgaon per month?

It varies widely. Kiddenz's Gurgaon listings show a median annual fee of about ₹55,400, ranging from roughly ₹16,000 to ₹2 lakh a year. Divide the yearly figure by twelve for a rough monthly guide, then add admission, meals and transport.

Which area of Gurgaon has the most daycares?

On Kiddenz, Sectors 45 to 51 are among the densest, with Sector 51 at about 30 centres and Sector 50 at about 29. That doesn't make it the right area for you. Choose by your commute first.

Should I choose a daycare near home or near my office?

Near home usually works better if you work from home some days or share pickups. Near office can work if one parent does both trips and has a predictable day. Think about sick days too, since someone will need to reach the centre quickly.

Are daycares in Gurgaon licensed?

Rules and registration vary, and a listing on any directory is not a licence. Ask each centre what registrations it holds and ask to see them. Then check safety, staff and hygiene yourself on a visit.
